Here’s the twist. Scammers didn’t hack NASA or the Pentagon. They exploited the ESA’s Cosmos portal, a legitimate repository hosting over a petabyte of mission data. By uploading hundreds of PDFs disguised as “Top 10 IPTV Rankings,” fraudsters are hijacking the agency’s trusted .int domain to boost their shady services in Google search results.
The results are pretty wild. Because ESA has high domain authority, these scammy PDFs rank near the top for queries like “best premium IPTV for Android.” Even Google’s AI Overview is currently pulling recommendations directly from these fraudulent documents. It’s a textbook SEO exploit, leveraging institutional credibility to push pirate content.
But it’s not just TV. The same vulnerability is being used to peddle “Free Robux,” “Instagram followers,” and mobile game cheats. While the PDFs themselves aren’t malicious code, visiting the linked services is a terrible idea.
The irony is palpable: we’re looking up rocket science and landing on ads for illegal cable alternatives. It’s a reminder that high-tech prestige doesn’t always mean high-tech security. Until ESA patches the upload vulnerability, this digital hoarding of scam PDFs will likely continue.
