If you’ve ever stared at a list of profiles named “New Profile 1,” “New Profile 2,” and “New Profile 3” and wondered which one holds your precious Saturn settings, Mike Chi has heard your cries.
The latest RetroTINK 4K firmware (v1.75) is officially here, and while it’s packed with “infernal optimizations” (his words, not mine), the quality-of-life improvements are the real stars. Most notably, you can now use an on-screen keyboard to actually name your profiles. No more guesswork.
But the real heavy lifting is happening under the hood with the updated serial control. If you use PIPe’s USB serial control, you can now mirror the entire menu on your PC in real-time. This is a total game-changer for testing display modes or setting custom resolutions before you even power on your CRT.
A few other highlights for the power users:
- Audio Rescue: The 4K-Pro can now resample “off-spec” audio (like the SNES’s 32 kHz) into a standard 48 kHz or 96 kHz, making it compatible with modern gear.
- Custom Branding: If your profile has a custom logo, it’ll now show up on-screen when the menu is off.
- Performance: Significant bug fixes for vertical decimation and Saturn detection.
It’s another big step toward making the RT4K the ultimate “set it and forget it” powerhouse.
