While most of the world is distracted by NFL kickoff, Retroid just dropped some news that’s much more important to the handheld community: the price tags for the upcoming Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to relive the DS era, the Pocket Duo Lite is looking like a serious contender. Retroid is offering a base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for just $135 during pre-orders (later settling at $149). If you need more muscle, there’s a beefier 6GB/128GB version on the table, too. The flagship Pocket Duo isn’t playing around either, coming standard with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The real drama, however, is the looming showdown with Anbernic. Their new RG DS Plus is expected to start at a much lower $85 during pre-orders.
It essentially boils down to a classic gaming dilemma: Do you go for the ultra-budget Anbernic, or do you shell out that extra $50 for the Retroid specs? Either way, the dual-screen handheld wars are officially heating up.
