### The DS Clone That’s Almost Perfect
If you’ve been following the handheld scene lately, you know the “clamshell craze” is in full swing. Anbernic is jumping into the fray with the RG DS Plus, a device designed to let you relive the Nintendo DS glory days without the hefty price tag of a modern 3DS.
At just under $100, this isn’t a powerhouse, but it’s a specialized tool. It features dual 4.3-inch IPS screens that scale beautifully for DS games, making everything from Professor Layton to Mario look crisp and vibrant.
The Good, the Bad, and the “Wait, what?”
- The Wins: The ergonomics are a massive step up from last year’s model. It’s comfortable, the D-pad feels premium (reminiscent of the DSi XL), and the face buttons have a satisfying click.
- The Compromises: You’re losing some internal storage (no eMMC here), and the single analog stick might leave some PS1 players wanting more.
- The Quirks: The touch responsiveness is “fine” but not flawless, and the reviewer noted some strange screen pressure issues.
The Verdict: It’s a budget-friendly, tactile dream for DS enthusiasts. Just keep an eye on those sales—you can often snag this for even less if you shop around.
