Batocera 43 Adds Support for AYN Thor, Retroid Pocket 6, and Is Packed With New Features
If your idea of a perfect weekend involves tinkering with custom firmware until your eyes glaze over, grab a coffee—this one is for you. Batocera 43 has officially dropped, and it’s bringing some serious hardware love to the table.
The big news? A massive expansion in device support. If you’ve been eyeing the Retroid Pocket 6 or the AYN Thor, you can now officially invite Batocera to the party. It also brings improved compatibility for a whole lineup of Anbernic devices (like the RG35XX and RG CubeXX) and even the PowKiddy X55.
But don’t just start clicking “install” blindly. There is a small catch: if you’re using newer SM8250 or SM8550 chips, you’ll need to update your Android Bootloader (ABL) first. It’s the same dance required for ROCKNIX, so if you’ve done it before, you’re golden.
Aside from the hardware expansion, the update is packed with quality-of-life tweaks:
- New LED controls: You can now customize or even turn off controller LEDs.
- Cemu support: Great news for those on SM8550 devices.
- Bug fixes: Major wins for Wi-Fi stability on Odin 2 variants and better “last played” collections for PS4/PSVita titles.
Just a heads up: the DraStic emulator has been retired due to its closed-source nature, so plan your DS sessions accordingly!
