Hold onto your retro cartridges, because the wait is finally over. After months of teasing, GammaOS Nano v1.4 has officially landed on the Anbernic RG DS, and honestly? It’s a massive deal. This isn’t just a boring point release; it’s a complete overhaul of the operating system you thought you knew.
The update brings some seriously cool visual upgrades. You can now switch between three distinct home themes: the faithful DSi System Menu, a stunning 1:1 recreation of the PS3’s XMB with live light refractions, or a minimalist “Minima” theme for those who just want to game. There are also custom video wallpapers, an improved sleep mode, and faster DS emulation powered by DraStic-nano.
However, there’s a catch. This initial release is a Patreon exclusive. You’ll need to subscribe to Gamma’s Patreon to download the build from GitHub, though it should go public later. While the RG DS is leading the charge, don’t worry if you own an RG Rotate or TrimUI Brick—those devices are slated to receive the update next.
