Kevin Mellott has officially opened pre-orders for the MrCart 128, a massive upgrade to the existing Virtual Boy multicart. While the original was great, this new version is a powerhouse. It boasts four times the flash capacity, faster game flashing, and—most importantly—subfolder support so your library doesn’t look like a digital junk drawer.
The real showstopper, however, is “ESSound.” By tapping into the system’s expansion address space, this cart allows homebrew games to play high-quality stereo MP3s and WAV files directly from a microSD card. We’re talking full soundtracks and sampled speech that the original hardware simply couldn’t handle.
