Kyle from Retro Access has announced a smart upgrade to their NTSC Super Nintendo SCART cables: they now feature a switchable sync mode. This lets you toggle between CSync, Luma, and Composite video right on the cable itself.
Why does this matter? It’s a massive convenience win for multi-console collectors. If you’re juggling a phat SNES, an SNES Mini, or even an N64 with a 3-wire RGB mod, you no longer need a drawer full of different cables. Just flip the switch. The new design also includes capacitors in the SCART head for a slight quality bump, available in both Fortraflex and 75 Ohm Coax versions.
Honestly, if you already have a high-quality shielded RGB cable, you probably don’t need this. But for the rest of us, the flexibility is undeniable. Having composite as an option is a fun bonus, letting you play with that soft, dither-blending aesthetic on CRTs without sacrificing the crispness of RGB when you want it.
