If you thought your retro handheld was feeling a little stagnant lately, prepare to have your mind blown. After an eight-month hiatus, the developers behind muOS (MustardOS) have finally dropped their massive “Andromeda” update, and it isn’t just a minor patch—it’s a total overhaul.
We’re talking about over 1,200 changes. Whether you’re a power user who loves tweaking settings or someone who just wants things to work, there is a lot to dig into. The update expands support to 18 different devices, including the GKD Pixel 2 and the TrimUI Brick series, making it one of the most versatile custom firmwares on the market.
Here are a few of the heavy hitters you’ll notice:
- Pickles (Libretro Player): Now features network play, RetroAchievements, and cheats.
- Wasabi (Media Player): A beefed-up player for your music, videos, and even live radio.
- Customization Overload: New themes, font pickers, and even flying box art screensavers.
- System Upgrades: Bluetooth support and a handy new “tour” to help you navigate the interface.
Pro tip: Before you dive in, back up your files! The update changes how backups are handled, and you don’t want to lose your save data in the excitement.
