Your Retroid Pocket 5 or Pocket Flip 2 Might Have a Surprise Upgrade

If you were eyeing a Retroid Pocket 5 or a Pocket Flip 2, you might want to double-check your math—because it looks like the specs just got a little more delicious.

We already knew Retroid was ditching the 8GB RAM models in favor of a 12GB upgrade for just an extra $10. But eagle-eyed users on Reddit have discovered a hidden bonus: these handhelds appear to be sporting 120Hz displays.

There is a small “fine print” situation, though. Out of the box, Retroid’s software keeps the refresh rate capped, so your Android menus won’t look any smoother than usual. However, the community has already found a workaround using the PULSE app, allowing you to force that silky-smooth 120Hz on a per-app basis.

The catch? Retroid is actually discontinuing these models. They’re clearing out stock to make room for whatever is next, which means:

  • Prices are currently slashed by about $30.
  • Once the current inventory hits zero, they’re gone for good.

If you want that extra RAM and the hidden high-refresh screen, you’ll need to move fast before the “Out of Stock” sign goes up.
